Terrazzo Divider Strip Profiles
The divider strip is heart and soul - the centerpiece of what makes terrazzo work. National Metal Shapes' superior one piece extruded design provides for better bond through to the substrate below because of the 5/8" holes punched in a stable horizontal leg. The leg is longer than other divider strips available for more stability when laying out the grid ofr the terrazzo. Its one piece design is far superior to any crimped on strip because you can NEVER grind through to cause a separation of the heavy top from the base.
All materials - zinc, aluminum, brass, and PVC are used in epoxy and polyacrilate terrazzo. Normally, "L" shaped profiles are used with these materials. Specification would be written specifying thickness of terrazzo,type of terrazzo, material for dividers and width of divider reveal. Cementitious terrazzo requires materials impervious to the high alkaline content of wet Portland cement and is normally limited to only zinc, brass, and PVC. Both "L" shaped profiles and standard strip are used in cementitious terrazzo.

All terrazzo installations should comply with the standards and practices of the National Terrazzo Mosaic Association. Included in those standards is the use of expansion joints.
