• Queen Anne Walnut Chair— This delicate Queen Anne style chair exemplifies the ornate and precise carving techniques indicative of the era. Constructed entirely of solid walnut, the chair features a hand-carved open back with a curvaceous design somewhat reminiscent of a heart motif; Cabriole legs (the English derivation of the iconic Rococo of the era of Louis XV); and patterned upholstery. Other qualities indicative of the era include shepard’s crook-style arms and carved front legs with trifid foot. • Black Lacquered George III Style Breakfront Bookcase— This ornate and stylish piece embodies many of the distinctive features characteristic of early 19th century England: heavy lacquer, contrasting exterior and interior colors, chinoiserie decoration, and geometrical grillwork on the display doors. The interior of the upper bookcase features shelves finished in a heavy red lacquer, providing a stark and stylish counterpoint to the black exterior.
