With an industry-wide reputation of providing aesthetically attractive, durable, and comfortable furnishings for a variety of healthcare settings, Wieland has helped set the bar for this growing market of architecture and design. The company provides lounge, guest, and waiting chairs, in addition to dining tables and chairs, sleeper sofas and chairs, recliners, and specialized bariatric chairs.

Description

As a U.S.-based company, Wieland is proud of their tradition of local manufacture and regional economic support. Began in 1977, Wieland is based out of Grabill, Indiana, and the company has a pronounced financial presence in that region. Wieland’s products enjoy distribution throughout North America. The company has won numerous design and industry awards for “innovation, proprietary product development, and environmental stewardship.”

  • Waiting Chairs— Each of Wieland’s award-winning line of waiting chairs offers molded wood construction, contoured removable cushions in a variety of finish options, and plybent arms with or without upholstery padding. Bevel is an elegant waiting chair with flared side panels and mission style wood construction. Plyfold is a lightweight, stackable piece with tremendous versatility and a slim, stylish aesthetic. Wieland offers Plyfold in a standard size as well as an extra-wide version for bariatric patients.
  • Sleeper Sofas and Recliners— Wieland’s line of sofas and recliners spans the aesthetic spectrum: from the classical curves of sleepToo®, to the modern streamlined look of Allay, to the spacious surrounds of the Versant, Capital, and Arris Recliners. Allay is the company’s flagship model. Introduced in 2010, the piece earned a Best of NeoCon Gold Award that year in the Healthcare Seating category. Judges lauded Allay’s “distinctly different and more secure sleeping surface; intrinsic ease of operation; and full list of options including one to two ottomans, storage drawers, and five lengths.”
  • Dining Tables— A dining table by Wieland is an intrinsic mark of quality and style. The company offers a modular approach that lets users specify a customized combination of elements. Options include bases in wood or chromed aluminum as well as tops in laminate, wood, and solid or soft surface. A variety of edge profiles facilitates stylistic variation, and different finish options for both metal and wood bases enable users to match existing decor. Users may choose to accompany their customized dining tables with Wieland’s extensive line of matching dining chairs.

In addition to their objective of outfitting North America’s healthcare landscape with elegant, functional, and comfortable furnishings for both patients and visitors, Wieland aspires to preserve the environment and make best use of natural resources. To that end, the company has initiated a comprehensive policy of sustainability. The “Renew” program specifies excellent longevity through a patented bolt and bushing system of assembly/construction; enhanced durability through the use of high density foams and cleanable, removable fabrics; and renewability through the use of modular, recycled, and recyclable components: “frames, seats, backs, and arms can be reused when recovering existing product. And that significantly extends the life cycle of Wieland furniture, ultimately reducing contributions to the waste stream and stress on our planet.”
