For over 30 years, Skyline Design has redefined patterned glass in architecture, making glass the prominent creative building material it is today. Passionate and knowledgeable about fabricating glass that alters the way light is transmitted, small design and development teams collaborate with outside designers, architects, and artists for each project. This intimate approach results in products that enhance color, luminosity, movement, and privacy in the built interior.

Description

The Skyline Design development approach blends a broad spectrum of creative expression with today’s most advanced technologies. Building on an in-depth knowledge of glass manufacturing, Skyline Design’s innovative techniques and processes have expanded the artistic possibilities of glass and have improved the aesthetic and functionality of the buildings where we live, work, study, play, and heal. To exceed client expectations, Skyline Design’s production processes ensure a final product of the highest quality. Attention to detail and client collaboration distinguish Skyline Design in the market place. Skyline Design products are all made in the United States in a Chicago-based facility.

  • Alexander Girard Collection Alexander Girard created more than 300 designs for Herman Miller during his 20-year tenure as director of the Herman Miller Fabric Division. Ten graphic patterns originally conceived as textile designs are available on glass in transparent, translucent and opaque effects, in both color and neutral options.
  • Digital Glass Portfolio Collected works by artists that transform public spaces by uniting their creative visions with the architectural potential of glass. The Skyline Digital Glass Portfolio offers a selection of images for digital printing on glass by eight commissioned artists, photographers, and designers from across the United States.
  • A Collection In Whites Designed by award-winning textile designer Suzanne Tick. Captures the sheer aesthetic qualities of textile designs on glass with ten fresh patterns inspired by weave structures and motif scale studies. The patterns are enhanced by the translucent qualities of glass, infused with luminosity, resulting in fluid, linear, and structural designs. The result is juxtaposition between the tactile quality of textile and the hard, durable surface of glass.
  • Botanica Inspired by the nature photography of Henry Domke, Steven Meyers, and Zeva Oelbaum. The collection offers three exclusive images from each photographer for a wide array of creative options for scale, texture, color, and transparency in Healthcare environments.
  • From its inception, Skyline Design has collaborated directly with customers to create custom solutions specific to their needs, either adapted from a broad range of available standard options or created from client artwork. An experienced sales and sales support staff works closely with the client to ensure customer satisfaction and a final product of the highest integrity.

At Skyline Design, sustainability has been and remains a cornerstone of day-to-day business practice. Manufacturing processes are audited for environmental efficiency and continue to be improved. This commitment to sustainability is reflected in Skyline Design’s fundamental building material: glass is made from natural materials, such as sand; it has a virtually unlimited life cycle; and it is recyclable at the end of life. Glass offers an environmentally superior platform for the reengineering of lived space.
