Santa & Cole represents domestic and urban furniture and lighting, as well as plant elements and books. Editors rather than manufacturers, the Spanish company “focuses on everyday objects in order to seek a better use experience.”

Description

Founded in 1985, Santa & Cole has been at the forefront of Spanish design for more than 25 years. Headquartered in Barcelona, the company is known for working with prominent Spanish designers and architects. As an industrial design house, Santa & Cole “defines itself as a knowledge industry, subcontracting 100% of its production to an extensive group of suppliers based largely in Spain.” The company selects products for its catalogue, develops them technically, subcontracts and finances the components, collects payment for finished products, and protects the creative rights of its collection.

  • Cubrik 36/100— Designed by Antoni Arola, the Cubrik series of pendant lamps comes in two sizes: 36 and100. The numbers represent its series of square-shaped plates, designed to resemble the famous Rubik cube: “Antoni Arola's idea was to make a large-sized cubical lamp that would offer as many possibilities of composition as there are moods, so that the user could have a different lamp at any given moment.” All the white ABS plastic plates are adjustable, formed around a white metallic structure. Futuristic and geometric, Cubrik looks like something from the set of a sleek sci-fi film.
  • Growing Table— The concept of Italian designer Elena Comincioli, Growing Table “explores the intangible relationship that exists between people and the objects surrounding them.” A wooden table with a central vegetable garden intended for growing herbs, Growing Table invites users to gather round, cook, pick the herbs that complement the dish, and enjoy the culinary masterpiece. Comincioli believes, “Objects have a soul, and they can interact with you if you give them the chance to be part of your everyday life.” Growing Table is conceived as more than a piece of furniture: it is a way for people to get in contact with nature and good food.
  • Butaca Ibiza— A mid-century design from 1950, Butaca Ibiza was designed by Germán Rodríguez Arias as part of the furnishings for his house in Ibiza. Constructed of chromed tubular steel with an upholstered and hand-sewn seat and backrest, Butaca Ibiza is a low armless lounge with an angled seat. Elegant and simple, especially when covered in velvet, this modern chair offers relaxed simplicity and clean form. Besides the customer’s own fabric, Butaca Ibiza can be upholstered in Kvadrat fabrics.
  • Trípode— The Trípode Floor Lamp pairs an intersecting trio of black, tubular metal legs with a ribbon shade in natural, red-amber, or black. Thanks to the design of the tripod legs, Trípode does not require a base and is therefore very light on its feet, providing “a cheerful atmosphere.” Part of a family of lighting products, Trípode features the signature pleated shade of the GT hanging lamps, which range in size from the compact GT6 (36 cm) to the oversized GT1500 (130 cm).

Santa & Cole believes in selectivity and form: “not to accumulate, but rather to select; not to enjoy quantity, but rather quality.” With an aesthetic philosophy that stresses “constructive solidity, aesthetic sobriety and functional quality,” the company seeks to spread creative knowledge internationally, promoting Spanish design in particular.
