Description

With roots in the artisanal wood crafting traditions of North Carolina, DARRAN puts a premium on quality craftsmanship and beautiful finishing. The company follows a rigorous design-build protocol in order to achieve the quality finish of the finest hand-crafted woodwork. DARRAN recently partnered with a global leader in wood coatings to develop Envi-Ut (environmental urethane), a new finish technology that “meets today's environmental standards, improves indoor air quality, and assists with LEED requirements.”

  • Sierra XP— DARRAN furniture’s Sierra XP is “a new generation of casegoods created by a generation's revolution in thought.” The line brings together contemporary innovations in sustainability and modularity, thus offering an earth-friendly solution to the evolving demands of the workplace. Sierra XP comes in a plethora of built-to-suit options: hardwood veneers in maple, cherry, moabi, walnut, and oak; CARB-II rated core material from 100% recovered wood fibers; and a flat/flush end design for ganging reconfigurations. Sierra XP also offers six edge options and six different drawers and pulls in solid anodized aluminum hardware.
  • Metamorphosis — Metamorphosis is a modular system for reception areas that allows maximal flexibility of component type and size. Metamorphosis offers 30 components in varied dimensions that can be customized via counter-height, suspended facades, and pull options, as well as options for lighting, wire management and task accessories. The Metamorphosis line also offers an extensive choice of wood types and finishes, including clear and honey maple and clear, natural, medium, scotch, and dark cherry. Users may also finish fronts with one of Metamorphosis’ decorative facade options: brushed aluminum, copper, or perforated wood.
  • Filmore— The Filmore lounge seating collection synthesizes the convenience of a modular design with the aesthetic appeal of a beautiful stand-alone piece. Comprised of club chairs, one arm chairs, armless chairs, benches, tables, and ottomans, the Filmore collection provides transformable flexibility that will make the most of any space. Filmore offers the durable quality of hardwood frame components with mortise and tenon joints, as well as the aesthetic allure of 24 available standard finish stains and 16 laminates. Filmore is also environmentally-friendly—an SFI-certified frame, a low-formaldehyde water-based finish, soy-based foam, and recycled steel components help make Filmore an exceptionally green collection.

DARRAN is a design-build firm with solid environmental credentials. All DARRAN products are manufactured in the U.S., and the company imports less than 1% of its components. Further, DARRAN leads the industry in innovations in wood finishing. As the co-creator of Environmental Urethane Technology, DARRAN has been instrumental in reducing the use of high VOC finishes, thus improving indoor air quality and helping products to meet LEED requirements. Yet the manufacturer’s achievements in product sustainability only tell half the story. As DARRAN says, “real finish beauty is only achieved through proper wood preparation and multi-color applications.” The statement attests to DARRAN’s continued commitment to their foundation of fine wooden craftsmanship. And every one of DARRAN’s casegoods, reception components, desks, chairs, and tables demonstrates a careful attention to detail and the kind of aesthetic appeal that can only result from an expert finish: “the ultimate color depth, consistency, and long term color stability that only a 14-step oil based pigment color system can provide.”
