Description

For more than 125 years, Banker Wire has been in the industry of wire mesh. Over the decades, we’ve striven to set the standard for wire mesh, challenging traditional manufacturing processes, developing new and innovative wire mesh patterns, and streamlining production to provide unparalleled products at an unbeatable value to our customers.

With thousands of patterns to choose from, and extensive customization capabilities, Banker Wire has the right wire mesh for your next project. Our wire mesh covers a broad spectrum; from simple and utilitarian specifications to ornate and decorative designs. Wire spacing and diameter variety allows for wire mesh that is nearly opaque at 0% visual open area to mesh with large openings and high visibility of over 90%. Wire shapes and crimp styles provide even more selection, creating designs that deviate from traditional square and rectangular repeat patterns. Many of our patterns are also available in a selection of materials including stainless steels, brass, bronze, copper, aluminum, weathering steel, and more.

In addition to providing superior quality wire mesh, Banker also offers a variety of fabrication services to aid in the next step of your design process. Our skilled fabrication department provides precision cutting, forming, and framing of Banker Wire mesh, all before leaving the factory. We are also happy to facilitate the addition of Secondary Finishes, including Decorative Plating, Powder Coating, and more.

Brand history / mission statement:
Established by Charles Banker in 1896 as C.I. Banker Wire & Iron Works, the company flourished in Milwaukee as one of many early metal fabricators making use of the new engineering marvel – inexpensive steel. Banker Wire specialized in fabricating wrought iron and wire products such as fire escapes, tool room partitions, and bank teller cages. Changing times and changing owners gradually took their toll, and by the mid-1960s, the company had withered to a local buyer and seller of industrial wire cloth.

New ownership in 1965 gradually began revitalizing Banker. By the mid-1970s, the business was beginning to transition from a reselling operation into a manufacturer. Over the next 30 years, an evolutionary process occurred as the owners, who are also engineers and fabricators, developed new processes and designed new equipment that resulted in heightened efficiency and more perfect products. Unfettered by the inefficient procedures utilized by more established weavers, Banker emerged as the expert source for woven wire cloth, for both industrial and architectural applications.

In 2019, Banker Wire moved its headquarters into a brand new, 245,000 square foot, state-of-the-art building in Mukwonago, Wisconsin. The new facility allowed for a customized layout of the manufacturing plant and corporate office to enhance the work environment for employees as well as improve manufacturing efficiency and capabilities.

Today, with over 125 years of operation, Banker Wire looks towards the future. With mechanical and technological advancements, we now offer a wider range of patterns than ever before. New partnerships have allowed us to not only offer new types of products but to build a vast network of suppliers worldwide. Though Banker Wire continues to build and grow, quality will always remain the fundamental core of our business.

Sustainability:
Sustainability is a core fundamental of Banker Wire products. By nature, wire mesh is highly sustainable, but Banker has instituted policies and procedures to ensure maximum recyclability. Less than ten percent of all wire used to make our wire mesh becomes scrap. That scrap is separated by material, melted down, and reused as new wire and rod for more wire mesh products. Our scrap metal recycler is ISO 14001 certified, guaranteeing all materials are handled at the highest level of environmental responsibility.
