Georgia-Pacific Hem-Fir Lumber is available kiln-dried to give enhanced stiffness and strength, and reduced shrinkage, warping, and checking.
Applications:
Light framing-up to 24' lengths
Structural joists and planks
Laminating stock (Philomath mill, dry & green; Coos Bay mill, green only)
Services:
Anti-stain treating
Paper wrap (Philomath mill only)
Available sizes:
Surfaced 2" x 4" to 2" x 12", 8' to 24'
Georgia-Pacific built this mill in 1994, designing for the latest in sawmill technology. Coos Bay is a Chip-N-Saw operation with 8-inch and 12-inch gang edgers. Built in 1950, the Philomath mill operated under two different ownerships before Georgia-Pacific purchased it in 1992. At that time, Georgia-Pacific's Toledo timberlands were just coming of size after their prior harvest. They were judged to be a natural fit for Philomath.
