Manufacturer's Product Description

200ml / 7 US fl.oz.

available in clear, or translucent fritted glass

use for hot tea, iced tea, scotch, white wine, water, fruit juice, coffee...

“The glass tea cups are made in the same material (as the tea lantern): the inner cup supported by a glass cylinder. The cups can also be used for cold liquids as well as hot, without the handle of course; the cups make good whiskey glasses. All jury members where impressed with the great thoughtfulness and precision of this piece of industrial design: its elegance, understanding of material qualities and classic calm".

- The Architectural Review, ar+d awards 2002 - highly commended

Aside from tea, the float tea cups are a useful size for a variety of beverages. Spherical ice cubes beautifully compliment the shape of the tea cups, and are typically available from Japanese kitchen supply stores, or from the international Japanese store Muji, as well as from the MoMA store in New York City. The spherical ice cubes have a pleasing ball and socket relationship with the float tea cups, and bring another dimension of enjoyment to your favorite drink on the rocks, such as scotch, limoncello, or amaretto and fresh squeezed lemons…some of our personal favorites!

The fritted tea cups are identical to the clear tea cups except they have been glazed with a borosilicate frit, which creates a luminous translucent finish. Unlike sandblasted or acid-etched translucent finishes for glass, fritting does not create pits in the surface of the glass, and thus does not trap the oils from finger prints. The fritted glassware is a delight to both see and touch. Fritted glassware should be washed by hand with a soft cloth.
