Humanscale Healthcare announces the introduction of the T5 Point-of-Care Technology Cart. Designed for PCs, tablet PCs and notebook computers, the T5 facilitates mobile computing in healthcare environments. Humanscale, the largest ergonomic solutions manufacturer in the world, engineered the T5 to be the new industry standard in cart technology.
Meeting the ergonomic requirements for 99% of users in both sitting and standing applications, this breakthrough device features perfect stability, sleek aesthetics and effortless adjustment. The T5 boasts one of the smallest footprints of technology carts currently available (16.5” W x 20.5” D) and weighs in at just 70 lbs. This combined with push/pull handles that are accessible from three sides and casters that are designed to cross hard and carpeted floor surfaces makes the T5 the easiest-to-move technology cart on the market.
The T5 offers unprecedented flexibility for each user in a shared work environment, offering separate height adjustments for the work surface, keyboard support and display. The keyboard tray and mouse surface optionally incorporate the world’s best-selling adjustable keyboard system for optimal comfort and ease-of-use. It offers a 0° to -15° keyboard tilt for low-risk keying posture, an easily adjustable mouse surface for left or right-handed users, and a Technogel® palm support with a wipeable, anti-microbial cover.
Complementing the T5’s flexibility, a unique security system locks all computer equipment to protect against theft, and the unit is designed to provide superior spill protection for notebooks. The front locking casters offer additional safety and security.
The cart was designed with precise attention to detail, with a built-in ridge on the work surface perimeter to keep objects from falling, multiple storage drawer options including security and partitions, and a utility container positioned for easy accessibility.
The T5’s internal power system features state-of-the-art technology and reliable mobility. Engineered for efficiency, the T5’s power system uses less energy than competitive models, is not subject to the heat build-up found in comparable units, and therefore doesn’t require a cooling fan (which can spread air-borne contagions). Available with a 40 amp/hour battery and 3 AC outlets, the T5 will provide many hours of continuous use between chargings. The T5 includes a built-in lockable storage unit for an optional lithium battery. And for ease of use, the 10’ retractable power cable system is positioned 40” above the floor for ultimate accessibility. In addition, the power system is readily accessible for easy replacement.
The construction of the T5 consists primarily of aluminum, with steel and plastic components. More than 50% of the T5 (by weight) is made of recycled materials, and approximately 95% is recyclable. All surfaces are durable and easy to clean. Available in a selection of finishes, the T5 is built to last and is offered with a 5-year warranty on all parts except the Power System (1 year) and Battery (90 days).
Designed by Humanscale’s award-winning in-house design team, led by Design Director Manuel Saez, and engineered by BMW Group/DesignworksUSA, the T5 was awarded the Grand Prize for Workplace Productivity Solutions in the 2005 Innovations competition presented by Buildings Magazine.
