Product Description
Nature is both the muse and the medium in this latest addition to an already impressive bent plywood collection from Davis. The delicate form of the Ginkgo shell is clearly reminiscent of its namesake’s leaf. Yet after spending just a few moments in the presence of this magnificent chair, the unique geometry of its shape begins to take on a life of its own.
This singular contemporary design lacks nothing in the way of comfort.
The flexible, yet durable shell has just enough give to enable the user to truly relax, while the edges of the seat and back curve upward and around, respectively, making it feel as if the chair is hugging the body. By ridding this chair of the usual hard, flat surfaces, Ginkgo is designed to provide an incredibly relaxing experience. Optional upholstered seat and back inserts are available for enhanced comfort.
The aesthetic appeal of Ginkgo’s slender profile is achieved by tapering the thickness of the veneer. The shell becomes gradually thinner as it fans out. Oak and walnut wood finishes give Ginkgo an understated, natural look that harkens back to the chair’s inspiration. A white laminate veneer is available for those wishing to achieve a more striking, modern look. Ginkgo’s willowy metal legs, available in chrome or powdercoate, provide ample support without detracting from the artistry of the bent plywood shell.
Ginkgo is protected against harm when stacked, with seat pans or rubber nodes affixed underneath depending on the presence of an upholstered insert or wood veneer seat. This feature makes it the perfect chair for a variety of uses, including large space or flexible conference seating. Its small footprint and superior comfort also make it ideal for cafés, dining areas, and libraries.
