This lamp is composed of five graduated spheres, mounted vertically one atop the other, on a flat cylindrical base. Reminiscent of a string of black, south sea pearls, the silhouette is striking in its simple elegance. A cloisonne pattern of interlocking leaves forms a finely textured golden veil covering the spheres and base. Opaque black and translucent, deep garnet red enamels are combined to give this lamp a rich, warm luster. The lamp is paired with a pongee silk shade.
