Loewenstein owes its enduring reputation and continued success to the vision of founder Hank Loewenstein. A “true pioneer of the industry,” Loewenstein was among the first American business innovators to collaborate with leading Italian chair designers in order to bring Modern furniture designs to the American contract market. The legacy of this foresight endures in Loewenstein’s enticing and extensive collection of contemporary designs.

Lounge Collection —
Loewenstein’s Lounge Collection is comprised of more than 20 spacious armchairs—each of which balances the clean lines of high modernism with plush, comfortable upholstery. Within the Lounge line, the use of rigid foam predominates. Pieces like Elide and Biscayne emphasize an expert synthesis of flair and restraint, while Michael Wolk’s bold, angular Stryde goes full-tilt: “a gradual tapering seat, streamlined silhouette, and solid Black American Walnut legs create the perfect modern lounging experience.”

Modular Lounge Collection —
Though Loewenstein’s Modular Lounge Collection features but two distinct lines—Salomé and Bända—it yet constitutes a full expression of the great potential of modular furniture. Constructed of polished chrome and bold black upholstery, Salomé features an innovative hidden connecting system that enables near instantaneous disassembly and reconfiguration. Bända features a light, bright and open-style steel frame wrapped in an attractively thin yet durable upholstery. Bända’s individual components come standard with power and data hookups and lighting to facilitate impromptu work sessions in public venues.

Occasional Chairs —
Loewenstein’s line-up of multi-use, dining, and side chairs runs the gamut—from the striking juxtaposition of satin chrome, wood, and upholstery seen in Elia WB; to the easy alliance of warm laminated wood and rigid foam on display in Compas; to the stunning old world craftsmanship of Teko. If there’s a unifying feature among this extraordinarily eclectic collection it’s in the lithe, lively aesthetic—for every one of these 24 chairs exemplifies the clean modern lines and excellent use of negative space that is a Loewenstein trademark.

Tables and Bases —
Loewenstein’s innovative approach to tables and bases has enabled clients to specify bespoke furnishings at a competitive price point. The Tables and Bases program lets clients choose from among multiple sizes, colors, and materials to devise customized pieces that suit individual styles and particular whims. The materials line-up includes table tops of natural wood veneers by Vinterio (Oak Mocca, Sycamore, Walnut, and Tulipwood); bases in stainless steel, cast iron, and wood; and urethane or fiberglass edges in varied thickness and profiles.
Loewenstein’s continued success in the new millennium is a testament to the brand’s devotion to its clients and its consequent longevity. In the last decade, the company has attracted some of A&D’s most renowned designers, including Michael Wolk and Marcelo Ziliani. Loewenstein’s successful recruitment of such talents and the consequent collaborations has resulted in multiple accolades, not limited to Contract Magazine’s People’s Choice Award (2010) and the Best of NeoCon Lounge Seating category (2010). Loewenstein’s excellent line-up of modern furnishings, responsive customer service, and competitive price point have helped build an exceptionally loyal client base: “we are committed to providing socially responsible furniture and logistic solutions through better design, excellent performance, and innovative products and services.”
