Bysted

Design
Peter Bysted

Key features
- Prize winner in an outdoor lighting competition – Robust design – high vandal proof – Low-key design – high architectural adaptability – Provides downward illumination – with distinct circular pattern

Concept
Bysted provides downward illumination. The louver shades are painted white on the inside, to optimize the reflected light and creates a distinct circular pattern of light on the ground. Bysted has a ruggedness that makes it suitable for use in public areas. The Cor-ten steel and cast iron will oxidize with a thin layer of uniform rust.

Finish
Cor-ten steel, raw.

Story behind the product
Bysted won 2nd prize in the Louis Poulsen competition for outdoor lighting in 1975. This product was mainly chosen for its robust design, which makes it highly vandal proof. The design expression is symmetrical and low-key and fits into a wide variety of architectural environments. Once it has patinated it fits perfectly into nature.
