Design Inspiration
This embroidery design has been adapted from a traditional suzani, which is the Persian word for "needle", and refers to the bold and colorful embroideries which have been created in Central Asia for centuries. Konya Suzani uses a cotton and rayon embroidery yarn stitched in a layered method for a very raised, textured effect against a cotton and linen ground cloth. The colorations are rich and give the look of the antique original embroideries, which have a natural, vegetable-dyed appearance. Suitable for a variety of decorative uses, this embroidery can also be used for light upholstery, such as occasional chairs.
