Sensual and conversational are appropriate words to describe the work of Tracy Schaal. She is interested in taking ordinary subjects and manipulating them with unrelated objects, creating an unconventional response to the status quo. Colors are rainbowed in retro combinations and applied big, bold and gluttonously. Images are simple, strong, delicate. Expect the unexpected fused with the beautiful, the beastly.
The collection of original pigment on canvas pieces challenges the stereotypical role of the long-suffering artist. Why must an artist suffer for their work? Why must art represent some dark, existentialist piece of propaganda for it to be taken seriously? Intelligence and wit are in the eye of the beholder--Schaal hopes her work with liberate these ideas inside ourselves.
Her creations do not require the supposed coveted subject of controversy; they only desire the need to be addressed, to be spoken of and enjoyed because in a world of doom and gloom and blackness, there are frowns to be raised and weights lifted off our meagre shoulders.
All art is original, signed, ready to hang, stamped with a 1/2” wax seal on the front bottom right (not shown) and a Certificate of Authenticity on the back.
Canvas used is 100% cotton, 340 gsm of excellent grade stretched onto quality wood. Inks are specially UV pigmented to provide protection against fading.
