Product Description: These unique and special antique tropical hardwood railway ties from Southeast Asia are truly one-of-a-kind items. These pieces were originally milled in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The local woods were selected for their durability and natural resistence to rot and decay, which allowed them to be used untreated. In recent years, these vintage pieces were replaced with concrete ties as new rail lines were laid. Each tie exhibits its own unique character and surface patina and texture acquired from years of tropical weathering. Beneath the weathered surface of each piece lies brilliant gold, burgundy, amber and other color tones, highlighted with black checking.
