Product Description: TerraMai's Merbau Decking offers a gorgeous, durable, sustainable alternative to rainforest-cut ipe. This wood has already endured decades spent as houses and other structures in the punishing tropical climates of Southeast Asia, where it is locally prized for its beauty, hardness, resistance to rot and decay and workability.
Note: Like many woods, merbau is known to leech natural, reddish, tannins when exposed to moisture. Although this leeching can be reduced by properly finishing and sealing the wood, merbau is not generally recommended for exterior applications over concrete or other surfaces where staining could be a problem.
