Type B stair treads are the most popular and cost effective stair treads offered by McNICHOLS®. These stair treads are typically offered in a welded construction and are made with a checkered plate nosing that is welded to the leading edge of the tread.

Type B Stair Treads are fabricated from stock panels. Type B stair treads are available in a variety of bar heights: 1 inch, 1-1/4 inch, 1-1/2 inch, 1-3/4 inch, 2 inch, and 2-1/2 inch. The bearing bars are made with a variety of thicknesses, materials, and spacings. Type B stair treads are typically made in a welded construction; however, a press locked construction is also available.
End Plates
End plates are welded to the ends of the stair tread. The diagram below shows the end view of an end plate and its dimensions.
