American Chestnut is reclaimed from old barns and primitive log cabins. This fiber largely comes from Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky. The sculpting technique used to create this texture truly enhances the highly figured grain throughout the board. Evidence of tracks left by the worm blight that nearly made the species extinct during the early 1900's is intertwined with the grain. Light checking exists in the fiber.
