Grass textiles are handwoven of sustainable plant fibers such as banana stem, ramie, arrowroot, river reed, jute, abaca, vetiver, palm, water hyacinth, flax, walingi and bamboo. The fibers are soaked, stripped, hand-tied, sun-cured and then woven into a broad range of designs with varied levels of texture, from nubby rustic to voile-like refinement.
Each Grassweave design is precisely woven by hand into roll goods and
inventoried in our Oregon Finishing Facility for quick-ship craftsmanship.
Local artisans then trim the weave to the specified size and hand-finish
the edges before handcrafting the shade.
