COLOR WASH explores the notion of 'soft tech', using technology to influence materiality with human and modern fluidity, to create large scale sensory experiences. It redefines how continuous and extensive color can be and rethinks how pattern is created. This concept marries both a human and nature-driven aesthetic with an advanced color science.
Functionality: Comprised of 2 aesthetics: MATTER and MEDIUM are tactile ways to experience nuance of color change. MATTER, a seemingly ever-changing vapor-like effect is offered in 2 very large scales. MEDIUM, is created by a layering effect of color using dry pastel as a medium, with an optional accessory pattern that showcases where the pastel layers fade to canvas. All are intended as monolithic installations
Flexibility: 3 patterns: MATTER-Methodical, a 10'x13' supersized set repeat is perfect for large scale spaces. MATTER-Arbitrary, a 16 tile random repeat emphasizes the 'occur-in-nature' aspect making each installation unique. MEDIUM, is a 1 tile repeat with the option of a 2 tile Canvas for transitions or border
Durability: The tip-sheared 25 ounce construction is created through multiple yarn infusion (MYI¨) which creates dense performing constructions with multiple ends of yarn through a single needle. Using fibers with various lusters and a randomized tip shear gives the construction a rich and handmade aesthetic.
Aesthetics: All patterns are created soley of nuanced color change. In MATTER, pattern appears to have such a liquid effect that it could only occur as particulate in the water, clouds, or celestially as aurora. In MEDIUM, color is explored through seeing the human hand in the layering and on the canvas white space. All move between 1-3 hues for a contemporary spin on a solid or as a bold statement.
Innovation: Perfectly merging design and science, as it is created by a designer and a researcher duo, COLOR WASH redefines how continous and extensive color can be and rethinks how pattern is created. Using proprietary high resolution digital print technology (150 dpi compared to industry highest at 25 dpi), we have developed new advanced ways to capture more color space in a continuous curve vs spot color.
Sustainability: Our new proprietary digital print technology uses less chemicals and water and yields less waste. All of our products are NSF 140 certified & third party certified carbon neutral. It contains 25% RC.
