An artist’s expression of a moment in time, inspired by the beauty and shimmering of branches soon to come down in a Kentucky ice storm. Branches from the storm were hand gathered, cut, cast in translucent resin, machined, and hand-finished to create a still life presenting the rich wood grains and tree rings of individual branches in a collective whole. Light plays with and is interpreted by the candle holder’s translucency. Tall cylinders machined into one face act as prisms to pick up, diffuse, and accentuate candlelight.
Interplay with light, hard structural edges giving way to organic forms, and natural earth tones blended with translucent urethane enable the candle holder to work as a standalone art object or as a piece that adds to the richness of its surroundings in a variety of settings.
Each piece is an individually handcrafted production with its own unique composition of pieces of branches that came down in the ice storm. No live trees were harmed in the making of these products.
