Product Information
Molded Fiberglass Stair Treads are typically used for environments where corrosive and slippery conditions exist. The high resin composition of 65% and lower glass composition of 35% provides for optimum corrosion resistance. The treads are low maintenance and will never rust or need to be painted.
When compared to pultruded I-Bar or T-Bar stair treads, Molded Fiberglass Stair Treads have greater resistance to corrosion, but the pultruded stair treads have greater overall loading strength. The high resin content of Molded Fiberglass Stair Treads allows them to retain a higher percentage of original stiffness over long exposure times.

How Are Molded Fiberglass Stair Treads Made?
Molded Fiberglass Stair Treads are made from a reinforced composite of polyester or vinyl ester resin. The surface is slightly concave to provide skid resistance. A gritted surface is also available. Molded Grating is manufactured in a one-piece construction by interlacing pre-wetted glass reinforcing strands in a liquid resin within a mold. Once the resin has cured, the mold is removed. The one piece construction ensures that all glass is impregnated with resin. The leading edge of the stair tread is covered with a standard grit surface.
