Poplar is reclaimed mainly from the Ohio River Valley, and is found throughout many of the barns and rural dwellings populating this region. Poplar was basically used in two different applications, siding and light structural beams. The raked finish is applied at the factory for the contemporary grooved look pictured. The reclaimed siding tends to yield the deep rich coloring found in the Raked Purple Poplar Grade 3 (characterized by purple colored mineral streaks and some knots) and Raked Poplar Grade 2 (characterized by more knots and dark gray/black mineral streaks).
