North Faced Oak barn siding is reclaimed primarily from the Ohio River Valley. The north facing side of the barn or cabin sided in Oak features wood that has weathered in a more uniform way than the other 3 faces of the structure. Therefore, the fiber has naturally occurring checking (cracks), and silver coloring that has evolved over time. The origins of the wood are visible in the preserved saw marks and fastener holes. This material also features linear stretches in the straight grain and swirls around the knots which are brought out by the mills dry brushing of the material.
