Sway... a seat that moves with you. The central column of these stools, located directly under the spine of the user, is flexible, solid cork while the rest is sliced into. The result is a stool that flexes and pivots under the weight of the user, responding to the smallest of movements. The user’s muscles remain slightly engaged to maintain balance, improving posture and circulation. The production process of the stools is quite rapid and simple, allowing for great degrees of variance in shape and proportion. A renewable and sustainable resource, cork (the outer bark of the Cork Oak tree) regenerates itself for harvest every 9-10 years. Cork must be harvested regularly to ensure sustained health for the orchard. Because the highest priority during harvest is to protect the health of the tree, the tools and processes used are virtually the same as they were hundreds of years ago. The cork forests of the Mediterranean are thriving, and the material is in plentiful supply. Note: This Item is made-to-order and non-returnable.

With this new work he has tried to explore the deep potential of this wonderfully tactile material, making it do things that only it can do.
