Product Description
In the early 18th century, while the popularity of the far east raged, it became fashionable in Europe to take apart imported Chinese and Japanese screens, to reshape them into pieces of furniture in the European form. This chair and ottoman feature painted scenes reminiscent of those screens. The chair is finished in a distressed black finish with gold chinoiserie detail, and features a caned back and Chinese trellis arms. A boxed back and boxed seat cushion accompany this piece.
