In constructing the Pantheon (120 A.D.) Romans ground lime and volcanic rock to formulate cement durable enough to withstand the weathering of centuries. But the art of mixing cement was lost until the 18th century. Decorative cement tiles first appeared in France and Belgium at the end of the 19th century. Exquisite Surfaces offers new cement tiles and an extensive line of antique French and antique Belgian cement tiles.
