Description

Carnegie Fabrics focuses on product development, exploring new technologies and working with outside consultants to ensure their “design approach is more exploratory and not insular.” With a studio and showroom in New York, Carnegie believes in the importance of creativity. Employing responsive and knowledgeable employees, the company also prides itself on customer satisfaction.

  • Anthology — A commercial textile that unites luxury and performance, Anthology combines elements that were once at odds—gorgeous patterns and textures that are also durable and flame retardant. The material lets designers use lavish materials with confidence, since Anthology meets the performance needs of commercial projects. Available in soft, inviting textures in patterns as diverse as soft geometrics and sophisticated florals, Anthology gives spaces a touch of splendor.
  • Creation Baumann — For over 100 years, Creation Baumann has been weaving fine quality textiles in Langenthal, Switzerland. For the past 35 years, Carnegie has partnered with Creation Baumann, bringing their legendary contract textiles to the United States. Specializing in fabrics for windows and vertical surfaces, Creation Baumann offers sheer, semi-transparent, opaque, and multi-purpose materials. The line also includes technical materials that control heat and light. Created at the Baumann Swiss textile mill, which does everything on site (yarn twisting, dyeing, weaving, and finishing), Creation Baumann fabrics ensure first-class performance and style. And the collection is produced with rigorous sustainability practices: “The Swiss are by their cultural nature devoted to the environment.”
  • Surface IQ— An excellent alternative to vinyl, Surface IQ uses thermoplastic olefin technology (TPO) and only water-based inks and coatings. The most important innovation in wallcovering technology in over 50 years, Surface IQ eliminates the hazardous chemistry and byproducts of the PVC industry: chlorine, plasticizers, heavy metals, formaldehyde, and dioxine. Besides being environmentally friendly, the material is easy to clean and anti-microbial, making it ideal for healthcare applications. Surface IQ has achieved Cradle to Cradle Silver Certification and Gold Indoor Advantage certification from SCS. Surface IQ is available in bold colors, subtle textures, and daring graphics.
  • Xorel— An innovative and durable material, Xorel is a polyethylene fabric used for wallcovering, upholstery, and wrapped panels. Made of one continuous fiber, Xorel is incredibly strong: the patented material cannot be torn. Although Xorel is synthetic, it contains no PVC. It has also achieved Cradle to Cradle Silver Certification and Gold Indoor Air Certification from SCS. As part of Carnegie’s Responsible Return Program, the company accepts returns of Xorel for reuse. In addition to the material’s durability and sustainability, Xorel is available in a range of creative finishes— weaving, embossing, embroidery, and graphic printing.

Carnegie Fabrics maintains a commitment to the environment. Since the 1990s, the company has investigated new technologies and created new materials in order to offer sustainable solutions. Their products have earned third-party environmental certifications, and customers can search for sustainable products using their online database.
