Since its inception in 1966, B&B Italia has risen to become one of the most prominent global manufacturers in architecture and design. The company’s products are known for their sleek lines and contemporary silhouettes—an aesthetic evocative of the history of modern Italian design. Despite its wide product range, including dining tables and chairs, side tables, bedroom furniture and outdoor furniture, B&B Italia’s core products are upholstered furnishings, namely sofas.

Charles Sofa by Antonio Citterio —
The Charles sofa is a modern classic and long-time best seller in the B&B Italia collection. Its slimline styling and iconic foot detail (L shaped, die-cast aluminum feet) have made Charles the the most recognizable of all B&B Itaiia sofas, and a permanent fixture in shelter magazines (such as Elle Decor). This classic sectional sofa with a chaise longue end unit is also available in a linear composition. Elements are available in different forms, types and sizes, all featuring the iconic single-seat cushion and loose pillows against a backrest. Infinite manufacturers have since tried to "replicate" this design, but Antonio Citterio's Charles sofa is the original.

Up 5 and 6 chair by Gaetano Pesce —
Designed in 1969, B&B Italia's Up Series was an instant icon, and serves as a defining B&B Italia collection -- and a throwback to the pop culture era. The Up5 chair represents feminine strength and struggle; the armchair has a voluptuous feminine shape and is still produced with a "ball and chain" (rubber cord and round ottoman), the traditional image of imprisonment. When first introduced, Gaetano Pesce's Up Series for B&B Italia was shipped in a flat package. In polyurethane foam and upholstered in stretch fabric (think bathing suits), the chairs were initially vacuum packed and then "expanded" when they came into contact with air (liquid foam in contact with oxygen). For the collection's 40th birthday, B&B Italia introduced the Up 5 + 6 Silver Edition.
“I was telling a personal story about my notion of women: despite themselves, women have always been prisoners of their own making. Along these lines, I liked the idea of giving this armchair a feminine shape with a ball and chain, the traditional image of the prisoner.”

Tufty Time by Patricia Urquiola —
A modern interpretation of the tufted sofa (and a re-interpretation of the sectional), Tufty-Time is modular, comfortable, and informal, with versatile composition possibilities. The modular system is made up of simple units that can be combined to form traditional sofas, chaise long sofas, corner sofas, island elements, and anything else you might imagine. Different depths, arm heights, fabrics and leathers can be combined to create playful compositions, meeting places, or a cozy refuge where to relax. Tufty Time is Patricia Urquiola's first sofa for B&B Italia, and well defines her style.

Moon Sofa by Zaha Hadid —
Curvilinear geometry, continuous transformations and smooth transitions -- Pritzker Prize winning architect Zaha Hadid's sofa for B&B Italia is consistent with her breadth of work across scales and sectors. While the sofa is available in a wider variety of material options, the most "classic" versions are metallic leathers (including gold and silver shades). As one might expect, a Zaha Hadid sofa has a rather significant price tag.
